2024 Scholarship Program
The SEIU 517M - Tomorrow’s Michigan Today Scholarship is open to dues-paying members in good standing (as defined in the SEIU Local 517M Constitution and Bylaws), their spouse, children, step children, adopted children or grandchildren with college or trade school expenses.
There are 15 scholarships available and the amount of each scholarship is $600. These non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to students based on successful completion of the application process and meeting certain criteria. Awards will be made via a lottery system from all eligible submissions.

Legal Services Member-Only Benefit through Goodman Acker
SEIU Local 517M is proud to announce that the law firm Goodman Acker PC has agreed to provide discounted legal services to SEIU Local 517M dues paying members as part of our Member-Only Benefits program. Goodman Acker provides union members and their families with expert, quality legal representation statewide at an exclusive reduced rate in almost all areas of law. These services include:

- No upfront fees or costs until a recovery is obtained (if applicable).
- Saturday and evening appointments are available.

Tuition Discount – University of Detroit Mercy
The University of Detroit Mercy has decided to give 25% tuition discount to employees, spouses and children of employees working for the State of Michigan and the City of Detroit.
