We Make Michigan Run

UPDATE 12/5/24:

This morning HB 6058 sponsored by Representative Mai Xiong to amend PA 152 and provide relief to public sector employees facing increases in their healthcare costs was reported out of the House Labor Committee. This means that our bill will now be taken to a vote by the House. Many members of the Legislature are out this week, which means there is a delay on a vote.

Every year, public employees shoulder the burden of rate increases, but 2025, by far will be the largest increase yet. Labor unions were stripped of their right to collectively bargain over healthcare costs under Governor Snyder – and we still don’t have a say in our healthcare costs to this day.

We thank those members who sent letters to the Governor, Lt. Governor, Speaker Joe Tate and Majority Leader Winnie Brinks supporting legislation that would reform Governor Snyder’s Publicly Funded Health Insurance Contribution Act (PA 152 of 2011) that limited the amount that public employers could spend on employee healthcare plans.

House Bill 6058 has been introduced to accomplish this goal and we ask members to send letters to their individual members of the Michigan House by using the link below.
